Looking at higher mileage 2006 Evo 9 MR- PLS HELP

i am looking at a 2006 evo with 117k miles, supposedly freeway miles

has a check engine light for the CAT. Converter and alternator

owner said he will take care of the Cat problem with the check engine light and smog it.

how much is it to replace an alternator on an evo MR?

car drives pretty good, only thing is that when braking from a like 60mph the brake pedal would vibrate, the owner said he already changed the pads and resurfaced the rotors AND he says its a common problem with Evo's, that the brake pedal would vibrate when braking from higher speeds?

is there anything i should look into? check?

and if i get what kind of maintenance would u do right away? and anything else you would change? and the prices of these services?

thanks a lot guys

120 k service. Timing belt, plugs, all fluids with water pump.
Front rotors, yeah they go bad if the are factory rotors. Girodisc is an option for replacement rotors.

I would get it looked at by a shop specializing in Evo's. leak down and compression is almost a must with any evo purchase.

he was saying that the vibration is not related to the rotors...

Unless its cheap, I'd wait for one that has lower miles personally.

just wait on it, re sell will be much harder if the guy has no paper work backing information.. shoot for one under 70k miles. with all paper work.

Vibrations during braking can be the control arm bushings as well.

thank you guys for all the responses

He is asking $14,000 with a cat fixed and check engine light off and smogged.

He said the 100k mile service included the timing belt, water pump, and all of the fluids, like tranny and all the diff fluids, he said he paid $1500.

It's a white mr, without the mr wheels.

Is it a good deal? Should I pass?

First off let me say my 06 MR has 103K on the clock and I wouldnt take any less than 19K. So 14K for an 06 MR is awesome! even if it had 200K on the clock. I'm so sick of people acting like because its high milage its a bucket of garbage. ITS AN EVO!!! Every last evo out there from 15K to 200K miles has been driven like an Evo should. As long as you take care of the car it is OK! I daily my Evo and change the oil every 3K and also stay on top of my service intervals and my car is golden. No leaks, doesnt use oil and has NEVER left me stranded. So for 14K I'd be ALL over it. This debate is exactly why i kept my Evo. I tried selling it and you would have thought I was selling an Evo with a salvage title because of the miles. ITs so ridiculous. But I'm done ranting now and good luck with your purchase. Buy the car! That is an awesome deal for a 9 MR.

That sounds like a pretty good deal. The money you save, you can put towards the Evo.

But it also depends if you're looking for a project car, or a DD.

I would like to drive it couple times a week but I don't want it to be a project car.

I am worried about the vibrating brake pedal, especially since it has new brakes. He said its a common problem with Evos? Can somebody tell me if they heard anything about this "common" problem?
