New to the Evolution side of things
Hello all,
I found this forum from google! lol so you already know I know how to search. haha! I currenly have a 97 Eclipse GST Spyder, but the other day I picked up a mirage for $500 and I want to do an evo V swap. I read this post last night (on this page) from this guy that had a maroon mirage, but paid $6500 for a white EVO V front clip so he sold the maroon mirage and bought a white one to save from having to paint. The swap seemed pretty straight foward (almost the same as if i wanted to do an AWD swap on my Spyder except i dont have to drop the trunk pan), but I can not for the life of me find that post again. I cant remember what I searched for to find it and i cant remember his screen name. There were many people following it so im positive that someone knows who I am talking about. My main concern is that he went all out on it whereas I am really only concerned with swapping the drive train. I know ill still have to drop the trunk pan and swap gas tanks, and according to him you can use american evo rear ends and what not, but I was curious as to how much less it would cost just for drivetrain parts. I already have an EVO 4 engine, transmission, wiring harness (ill have to change it for LHD), and an ECU.
My question is, how much more will I have to spend to have the drive traine completed? I have a pretty good idea about what I need to do to be able to jump into this, but I am basically just hoping there isn't some contingency that would be out of my financial availability. I am not looking to go crazy with the swap, just a stock swap. I will do performance mods later if the stock configuration ends up being too slow. I doubt that though. My spyder pushes around maybe 235-260 hp and I am content with that (for the most part). I am sure that 280-300hp with awd would just be that much better. Not really asking for too much, just a cool exotic swap.
Thanks for having me.
