omg! help!

I'm sitting at the dealership right now as I type this. Its electric blue. 2003 base. Slightly modified, not abused. Perfect condition down to the paint.

Its about 15'900. At this point I'm more concerned with the lack of Mivec and a front LSD.

I'm sure that a decent set of cams will make me forget all about mivec, but what about the Helicle(spelling?) LSD?? Does it make much of a difference? What about ACD? Will I be missing out on something else that I'm not aware of?

Essentially. Should I get this car or wait?

There's a 50/50 chance you will have to spend at least 10k to get it running the way an EVO should.

Could you explain more on this? what do you think I'd need to buy?

This one has around 90K on it. If you bought your 05 for 14K with 102K miles, it sounds like I may be getting ripped off... or did you buy yours private party?

It has modified intake and a super-loud exhaust. I'd PROBABLY revert to stock if it's ridiculously loud.

Taking paperwork and cash to the dealership tomorrow. The only thing that can stop me now is research LOL!

WHO THE HELL IS SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO SLEEP WHEN YOU KNOW YOU'RE GETTING AN EVO THE NEXT DAY?!

Perhaps i'm too excited? I dunno. my relatives tell me that I should keep my 08 DE because it's "newer". Yet it doesn't have half the comfort/conveniences as my 03 ES.

Your not getting ripped off. My car has plenty more mods than the one our looking at and by how you explain, yours is in muh better physical condition plus about 12k less on the odo. I bought private. I totally love my car. Mechanically its sound. After a paint refresh, or new bumpers it will be a 10 in my eyes as the interior is solid. I say your getting a good deal.

Definitely research it. I know it's exciting buying an Evo - trust me I was there, but just make sure it's one you really want. Can you post pictures so we can see what it looks like? How many miles are on it? With any car like the Evo, STi, etc etc, you just have to be careful because people abuse them. Good luck with it! I was up at 3 in the morning to pick mine up!! I know how it is haha

I bought it. It has a few problems but I feel as though it's a great buy.

http://modules02.dealercarsearch.com...spx?id=2782575

It's misfiring (all cyl) and theres an EGR code.

other than that, It just needs a new tire, AC controls, and Driver's door lock. I can fix just about all of that myself.

I must say.. I am IN LOVE with this vehicle... I've never...ever driven anything like it. it's exhilarating. I'll post a full review once I finish fixing some of these issues.

Note to other newbies: BE CAREFUL IN THE RAIN!!! I almost spun out 2 or 3 times. I was feathering the throttle, I guess I should have stayed on it... Good fun....just didn't expect it right then lol.

Also, I can't say that I am gonna mis Mivec, the front LSD, or ACD because i've never experienced them... what are some mods that will maybe help improve the 4-wheel handling or low end torque.?

congrats on your purchase! You seem very eager to get going modding your car and learning more about it..that's a good thing....there are several threads on this forum you can read up on and learn a lot about the right paths to take for modding and everything else under the sun.

New Tire? Since you now have an AWD, make sure you either replace all four tires or unless your other 3 good ones are close to new...say no less than 8/9-32nds from new..then you could get away with one new tire. New tires typically read 10/32nds new....then you should be fine getting just one tire. Make sure you get the same size and brand as they do vary in size ever so slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer.

A/C controls? You mean the control knobs or do you need to service the AC? The knobs are cheap...I just bought the heater control knob for $10 at the stealership...Mitsubishiparts.net probably has it cheaper but I picked up other items at the same time so I bought it anyways.

EGR code? could be a simple vacuum line under the throttle body that commonly comes off the egr solenoid. Just feel around under the throttle body and you'll be able to feel if it is on or not. If not, search on here and you'll find many threads of evos throwing this code and their solution(s).

Anyways have fun and be safe with her!!! AWD doesn't mean you are invincible on any turn or climate@!@!@

Post up some pics when you can!

Congrats on the purchase! You got Evo 9 se seats and pedals, Evo 9 tail lights and wheels. Don't know if you knew that or not so figured I'd point that out to you. Enjoy the car!
