what do evo owners daily drive?
I daily drove my evo for a year when I got it. 12,000 miles, the associated maintenance and gas bill made me feel like there are better things I could spend the money on. I'd rather enjoy the miles that I put on it as opposed to being bored out of skull in my daily commute.
So I got a 92 mirage hatch. I hated it. I got rid of it.
Then I got an 85 AW11 Toyota MR2 and I feel like I'm winning again. Consistently 36-38 mpg, that will be increasing as I modify it further. I save at least $2500 just in gas each year, just gas! I haven't even spent that much on it yet, including purchasing the car!

^ this. I have no reason to daily it. I bought it with low miles, it's in pristine condition and I expect it to stay that way. New England winters are not fun on cars. Plus with me being in school, I am back and forth all day long driving all over the place between work, school, the gym, daily errands, etc etc. I would be putting more than 20K miles on the Evo within a couple of months. If you have the option to not daily it, it's worth it!
Word! With EVO 8 and 9s getting more rare, it's actually worth the investment of getting a DD of another type and keep the resale value up on these precious gems we have.
Evo is my dd.
I have every intention of driving this car until the wheels fall off. There's no reason for me to want to keep the resale value up.

Exactly. I feel like I repeat myself to everyone all the time about not driving my car. It's like why? It took me forever to find the perfect one, and not for nothing, half the ones I looked at I could tell they were DD's and they were horrible looking. I wouldn't even spend a grand on some of these cars. Every single person I know has their "garage queen" a daily, and some even have their "other fun car" that they just don't care about haha.
I DD a 2006 Scion xA. I got it for a steal with 72k miles. I love 35mpg vs the the Evo. Plus, I would rather not put boring DD miles on the Evo. I get less police hassle and can go out to shows with it, without the normal wear and tear of a DD car.
