What Gauge, Wideband or EGT?

So I'm looking to buy a boost gauge and I'm thinking I should maybe buy something to make sure the engine is safe. I really like Defi gauges but they don't make a wideband. I'm guessing a wide band would be better than a EGT but I'm not really sure. What do you guys think?

Agree with all of the above. Egt is nice to have but not really necessary.

Has anyone actually ever used EGT as a tuning metric????

Honestly intake air temp is more important to me. I've never understood why ppl care about EGT.

I would never tune with EGT, but having a probe in the runner known to run hottest with a bright light or alarm can save your engine. Wideband is the average of all four cylinders. EGT is cylinder-specific.

Egt was around to measure how to tune vehicles back in the day being widebands weren't around back then. They went off the exhaust gas and tuned for temp.

Yeah with things now days it is kinda pointless to do, but it is nice to have as a tool.

Wideband first!

For a proper EGT setup, you need to tap each runner individually anyway..

Defi makes great gauges. I wonder why they don't make a wideband?

I love my Defi boost gauge and about to get AEM wideband gauge half-heartedly due to unavailability of them from Defi

There is nothing wrong with Aem or defi. Personally I prefer Aem over defi any day of the week.

This is a very ricer question.

Your main dilemma is because you like Defi more. You can get a bunch of pointless Defi gauges that you will probably never look at, but that just seems pretty pointless to me. Unless it's for show, which is still kind of pointless.

The wideband is very useful. So is an oil pressure gauge to make sure your engine is running strong.
