Thoughts on picking up this Evo VIII

I currently own a Evolution VIII with 81,000 and my friend wants to sell me his 05 GSR Evolution electric blue evo VIII. I went and looked at it yesterday and its a beautiful car. It has 39,000 on body with no winters or rust, cf hood, trunk, fenders, brand new fully built AMS stroker motor that's balanced and blue printed, HKS cams, full roll cusco roll cage painted to match the car, gauges, AEM Ecu, harness bar with 5 pt harness, Volk rims, wide body, shep racing stage 2 trans, new exedy twin disk clutch. Car looks like a show car. Asking 21,000 with tune included. I have all basic bolt ons and i was planning on upgrading mine with clutch, flywheel, cams, injectors fuel pump, e85 tune/pump 93. Now I see this beautiful machine. Any thoughts. What would you do?

I'm never one to suggest buying someone else's project.

With that said, I'd have a *real* hard time not buying that.

KBB Values
Excellent - $24,099
Very Good - $23,599
Good - $23,099
Fair - $21,449

So by him selling all of that for $21,000 brings a couple things to mind:

1.) Is it a clean title?
2.) Is he desperate?!
3.) Is something wrong with the car?!

The reason I say those things is cause clearly he has invested a ton of money into that project and he'll be taking a HUGE loss. I mean he's selling you that entire build for less than the "Fair" price from KBB. Just look into it man. Get a CARFAX and take it to a shop and get it looked it throughly. And with a build like that i'd even consider taking it to a tuning shop with a dyno and pay for a few pulls just to be safe. Thats my .02 cents. Good luck

The car was his project build and he is selling it due to his financial reasons as he can no longer keep the car at this price it's a steal.
He has all receipts for the build. Approx 15,000 in the motor and 15 or so was in the cars interior and exterior. This thing is a real head turner. The motor was built by a machine shop in town and going to be finished up soon. I'll be able to go to Sean Ivey with him to get it tuned. Has stock turbo for now.

No. Stock body better looking than project cars IMO, and ultimately more valuable if you want to sell it later. Theres nothing there, left from the original.

Well my friends it's done. I sold my Evolution VIII and bought the 05 Evo VIII from my friend. Car has a Fully built balanced and blueprinted AMS 2.3 AMS motor fresh from a professional motor shop. Will be picking her up in a couple weeks as the finishing touches are being done.
