So WTF do I do??

Here is my dilemma.

I have a bone stock 2010 GSR with 45K miles on it, still on stock clutch. I'm the original owner. I love my car...really, love the hell out of it. But...

I injured my left knee, ( bad joints, wearing flat shoes all my life, stupid genetics etc.) and now driving stick shift is a pain in my ***. The last 6 months have been hell.

I hate my car now. Really... its terrible.

Today, I test drove the 2013 STI. First of all, don't judge me.
I noticed something right away... the seats are comfortable and the steering wheel is telescopic = win.
The clutch engages pretty much the opposite from my evo and the clutch "felt" 10 lbs lighter.

So what im getting at is...driving the STI (with the telescopic wheel pulled out) i did not hit my knee once, and the "lighter feeling" clutch with immediate engagement gave me pretty much zero pain in my knee. (The car did feel slower than my evo, but i figure its the linear torque curve etc.)

Ive been thinking of getting a 2 pedal car.... but i hate automatics sooo much. The Evo spoiled me in its performance (acceleration, cornering, saving my life doing stupid ****) that other cars dont even compare. Im not a millionaire so my budget is 30-38k. Ive driven the lexus is350, infinite g37, 370Z, and others. Sure, these are really really nice cars, but after having an Evo for almost 3 years they feel "soft" and ... I'm screwed aren't I?

So...do i sell my 2.5 year old Evo and a) get the Subie, or b) get an MR?

Please advise.

Man up! I shattered my left arm few years back... Managed to dd my evo for 8 months with absolutely no use of my arm...

Then i tore my acl and had to have surgery... During physical therapy the doc hyper extended my knee and snapped the new acl... I'm in pain nearly constantly and i still dd my evo...

Moral of the story... Its worth it... I will admit that i own a dodge dart that is my more practical get around car...

just get an MR, you will be disappointed by the STi. I've owned 3 Evo X's and 1 STi, if that helps

You can also put in a Clutchmasters CM400, it's a very, very easy clutch, probably better than stock STI

If you're buying a manual for another manual then i agree with Joseph. Man up.

You'll still aggravate a bad leg so it's best to get an auto.

Buy a gtr if you can afford it. I haven't heard people put down those autos

The MR is 100x nicer (and faster to boot). No reason to suffer with a manual when twin clutch is available.

I wouldnt buy a sti yet. If you are thinking of maybe getting a sti, I would wait and see what the new model will have to offer. The concept is looking pretty nice IMO.

For now I would either get a MR or change your clutch to a softer one.

From what I've been told the new STIs have issues with cracking the ringlands.

If you can't drive a manual, why not just trade it in for an MR?

I honestly doubt anyone is going to recommend getting a Sti since this is a Mitsubishi forum. Keeping with the trend I'd suggest an MR over a Sti as well.

faster at shifting, yes. But the MR makes about 15-20 hp less than a GSR with similar mods and it is heavier. I will admit that the MR is a nice dd car, I test drove one before i bought my GSR but theres just something about rowing through the gears that i can't live without. OP if i were you, i'd just stay with the GSR and go with a lighter clutch like someone else pointed out.

I would wait on the STI since a new model is supposed to be announced soon. If you want something sooner, check out an X MR. The SST transmission is fantastic.

Go for the STI dont wait or waste your time.
I have two evos 8 & 10 and owned a WRX before and loved it and as soon as my X lease is over, im getting a STI no question asked. More comfy, rear seats fold, larger trunk, 100% better quality of the interior. 6 Speed.
Again im a evo fan and wont trade my evo 8 with 2k miles, not even for a brand new 2014 STI, but as for my X thats a lease ! Im done.

If you're happier with the MT and you can deal with the STi setup then go for it. If MT is not worth the troubles then go X MR.

If it was me then I'd be looking for the AT equivalent of my evo.

A buddy of mine suggested a used V8 M3.
Its 2 pedals, but not auto... DCT?
Thats twin clutch right? But it would be around a few grand more than a brand new MR.

Thoughts?
