Cool Question about insurance!

Sup guys, this is my first post on evolutionm however i have read lots of different threads on here before. So i was wondering how much insurance on a 06 EVO 9 would cost? (NOT MR , just base 5 spd evo9) for a 16 year old. Also i will be under my parents policy not my own obviously. Since i got my permit i have had 0 warnings / tickets and i have already driven a 400whp mustang and i'm not bad with driving at all.
It seems like every year the insurance rates keep droping because when i look at older posts people are saying 600 a month but on 2013 threads their saying like 300 a month so i am pretty confused. Thanks!

I payed 340 a month for my evo through state farm when i was 20. I switched to nationwide and put my parents as drivers (I think they go by average age on the drivers which helps out) and had minimal coverage for around 140 a month. Many different things take factor into the insurance game so its probably best to call around and get some quotes from different agencies.

A lot.

I have outstanding driving records, good credit, and I've been with the same insurance company for ten years. My 04 costs me about $275 for six months of full coverage..... but when I add my 17 year old son it goes up $1000 for six months.

Asking around isn't really going to give you any accurate number just a rough ball park assuming everyone had the same company and same levels. Remember one car policy can be configured literally tens of thousands of ways due to different PIP levels, different BI levels, different Comp/Coll levels, not to mention deductibles. The compound that by the age of the driver, their driving history the state they live in, if they have any other cars on the policy or other drivers.....and if that isn't enough to sell the point, then you have different insurance companies with drastically different pricing policies.

You will never get any truly accurate idea of your insurance costs because there are too many variables. You could only get the most basic and minimal estimate that way and even then only if you insured to the same levels and with the same company and you were the same age, etc.

Just start calling places. You may find some places that will insure you without your parents, however there are very few and only in certain states (due to contract laws). You will pay way more that way anyway though. Take advantage of your parents discounts.

The previous owner(when he was 20 yrs old)of my Evo paid $500 a month when the car was his, it was under his name. I'm 26 and I pay $110 a month full coverage.

759 for 6 months, full coverage. 23 years old. 2 accidents (not at fault) and 2 speeding tickets; both 2x mph over. Although, I get a discount for being a Union worker, lol.

Wow that was a pretty good answer. I called my parents insurance company ( i think its geico) we have 3 cars under the policy, plus my car = 4. They said it will be extra 200 dollars a month added. So gotta take that from my paycheck and give it to insurance haha

Score. That's pretty good, but if you are already a rated driver on their policy it isn't a full representation of the cost.... as the added expense of your age is absorbed into the other vehicles as well.

For a point of reference (using myself again).
Adding my evo to my policy with my son = $275 increase for six months
Adding my evo to my policy and removing my son = -$800 (negative) decrease for six months
That's because I have a half dozen vehicles and his age impacts all of the vehicles. If he were to start his own policy when he turns 18 with that vehicle only, it is highly unlikely that he would be at $1000 for six months, more likely $2500 +/-. The difference on adding the evo to my plan is reduced since the impact variable is his age more than the car.
The same is likely what kept yours as low as it did

I have no accidents and no speeding tickets and I pay $600 every six months with State Farm. I had a gti before the evo and it went up by $400 a year when I got the evo.

Not that I have one, looking , but I called my insurance agent (AllState) in Hudson Valley, NY, and I'd pay 150 a month. I'm 20 and on my parents policy.

Simply put, I don't believe a 16 yr old should be driving an evo at all. Regardless of driving a 400whp mustang. I guarantee if you get that car all your friends are gonna wanna ride in it, and ofcourse want you to "go fast." The evo is not a toy and at your age you really have no comprehension of vehicle responsibility.
