After almost 2 months of looking research and debating I finally picked up my 2013 EVO GSR today. It's Apex Silver with Sight & Sound Package, Exterior Package, LED Illumination Package, and Interior Package. I picked her up with 61 miles on it. I fell in love after 1 mile of driving it. She handles so smooth, stops like a Gixxer, and is flat out sexy. Mods will start Monday morning. I am going to start with Cobb stage 3 package, and having windows tint done with 20% all the way around. Can't wait till shes got some more pep and sexxyness to her in the next couple weeks. I am one very happy guy here.
Also I was able to talk my wife into sayin yes due to it being AWD having four doors and " good on gas" LOL. It worked.

How many miles is a good break in?

 

500 miles is supposed to be the official breaking point according to the manual. But i picked up a 2013 evo too a month ago with 0 miles and i waited untill 700 miles just to be sure because i also am in love with it. Pure sexiness. Take good care of it and DO NOT push her untill atleast the very least 500 miles IMO. Some people believe new cars dont need break ins because of the fuel injection theory but those same people ruin their cars when they dont let their cars warm up for atleast 3 minutes on a cold start. Its a turbo, it needs to be warmed up and only use high octane gasoline. Goodluck!!

After about 50-100 miles the rings are pretty much set to be honest with you. With that said, I did about 30-40 pulls from 1500 RPM's to 4000 RPM's in 2nd and 3rd gear and then let off and let the engine slow the car down. The rings seat under vacuum.

Do people not realize the motors are tested in the factory and therefore already broke in? Maybe its just me. Drive it like its meant to be driven. If it goes who cares, its under warranty.
