Newbie from South Africa
Hey EvolutionM
Last year May I started saving up for one of my dream cars. I didn't know which one yet but I gave myself a year to save and research. In April this year my mind was made up and it was only a matter of finding the right model for me. I was looking for something fairly standard. Then I came across this beauty in a Japan auction. I contacted my guy over there to get me 2 extra interior pics as one only gets 2 exterior pics plus the inspection sheet in Japanese. Luckily I can interpret the inspection sheet. Car looked good. HKS exhaust, Defi boost gauge, A'pexi Coilovers, larger Kyorad radiator and some Ralliart goodies. No headunit though. So this is what she looked like online:

I made an offer and I won
A week later and lots of paperwork and she was ready at the port with new pics:

3 weeks later she arrived in Durban. More paperwork to sort out and long delay because the car's alarm didn't want to work during that time. Car came out of customs and the defi gauge, EBC and control unit were stolen

Then my trip last week to Johannesburg to go and fetch her. I was so happy that I forgot to take proper photos:

Gave the car a good service and did the decat. Afterwards I cleaned up the dirty engine bay:

Drove the 1400km home and she behaved very well and the drive was actually very comfy. Body was not sore at all after the 14 hour drive.
The front bumper needed a respray and car needed a good detail so that was the 1st thing I did the next weekend.

All clean and shiny

The car suffers from fuel cuts so it's not running 100% on WOT. The fuel cuts occur from 4500rpm - 6000rpm. Still not sure what the exact problem is.
Used a Tactrix cable and Evoscan to check for any errors but it turns out my ECU is locked so I can't check.
Wondering perhaps if it has something to do with the fact that all my Defi products were removed and the fact that we only have crappy 95 octane in South Africa.
The handling is superb though. Loving the mountain passes.

Check spark plugs and cables, then check what are you using to control boost ( since the EBC was stolen, how is it being controled now?) 95 octane is no crappy fuel
Congrats, car looks mint, share some more pics, interior included

Spark Plugs and cables should be fine. All was serviced. I can only check gapping of spark plugs though? What should the gapping be?
I have no idea and neither do other mechanics over here of how it's being controlled. Since the ECU is locked I have just decide to get a few mods and hopefully sort this out. I just want decent reliable 4WD power.
A'pexi Power FC and induction with heatshield
Forge dual BOV
Gizzmo Electronic Boost Controller
Retune for Cape Town fuel and conditions.
Our 95 octane is not even real 95 octane after some lab tests were done
