New to the scene, in NY and looking!

Hey all,

I have recently driven my first X, and the car blew me away! Ive known since '08 that this could possibly be a car id purchase, and now I am looking!

Ive spent the last 20 years of my life, smiling, laughing, and crying over in the 3/S world, owned 2 twin turbo awds (one a 93 3000gt VR4 and the other a 92 stealth tt with about 400whp) and 2 n/a versions. The X has finally overtaken my desires to have one....which was a good thing, i believe those cars were my figurative unicorns, that id never catch since the ones i purchased were full of bad luck and timing.

Im ready to tame this new breed, the X, and was wondering if you guys could recommend a few things i check out while looking at used ones. I had an eye on a new mercury gray pearl, but theres a 40k mile 2011 in octane blue for sale near me with an upgraded turbo and supporting mods. guy says the only issues are a passenger airbag sensor, and the ebrake handle's threads are messed up (apparently damaged by a shop in PA that worked on the car) he also said that i should instead of saturday, look at the car sunday because he has changing the turbo feed line to a braided line and changing the oil/filter.

any thoughts on these issues? im a little sketched by them, but then again, that could just be lingering pessimism from my 3000gt

Cheers!

Find out if he has paperwork for all the work that was done to it. If not find out the shop that did all the work. If it is a reputable shop then, maybe consider it. If he can't remember who did the work and does not have paperwork for the work done, personally, I would not bother. Just my 2cents. Car might be more of a headache, or might be that diamond in the rough.
