Hey guys, been out of the dsm game for a while now and im trying to figure out if my turbo crapped the bed.
There's a decent amount of shaft play. I'd say 1/16" side to side, zero in-out.
I know oil pressure takes up some slack.

What concerns me is I can hear the spool preboost, also I can hear it spool down...similar to running an open downpipe.
I fixed a bunch of vacuum lines and now it just started getting much louder. Running 12psi till I get things squared away.

Another concern is the markings on the compressor housing...I can't feel them with my finger nail, and pushing the blade to the housing - I can't feel any contact.
I did wipe a rag in there and it seemed to clean up a bit as there was a bunch of dust in there from running a HKS filter.

I can only speak from experience...when my t-25 blew an oil seal, drove an Eclipse GST before Evo. Had some fun times with the smoke spewing out of the tail pipe.
