Newbie SOON TO BE EVO OWNER NEEDS ADVICE!

So ive been searching for months for a low mile reliable evo 9. Ive had bad experience with reliability with my past purchsed car but it was my fault. I want an evo with lowish miles that I can barely use as my daily driver, (will be using parents car at times to not drop so many Daily driver miles). So basically I found this evo 1000 miles away from me. its 1 owner 53k miles which i Love, the dealer claims its their cleanest evo, with a binder full of maintenance, service records and reciepts for several things oil changes and the couple things the car has. The dealer calls it "Light tasteful mods". Only thing im worreid about is getting an evo thats had the sht kicked out of it thats the last thing I need ive already been through a caddi with its engine blown on me it was the worst thing ever for someone my age finacially, so after my recovery I want something fun but will pay xtra for reliability. So this light mods include: Catback exhaust, Intake, swapped blow off valve, boost gauge, and a Tune from some place I forget its called and a Specific fuel pump I cant remember. They claim its one owner was an older man who took very good care of the car and has many service records. But are these mods actually light? The tune and the few mods makes me worried it was beat on but it doesnt seem like a strong build for a car that might of been beat.

You guys are the experienced professionals and I would appretiate your opinions on whether or not to get the car. I REALLY want it but ONLY if you guys think its a safe reliable Buy. I wouldnt think a 1 owner car would be beat on but who knows.

Heres the link: http://www.xtreme-motorwerks.com/200..._228823484.veh

Its about 1.5k above blue book, which is what i would expect if it was %100 stock right? Willing to pay the xtra if its actually reliable. Mods are: Catback exhaust, intake, blow off valve, tuned, fuel pump n boost gauge. Is this car with 53k miles 1 owner most likely a safe buy? 26k its on hold for me. Also what else should I check for in terms of maintenance? Belts placed etc the more advice the better trust me when I say your words are MUCH APPRETIATED THANK YOU! Making a decision today or tomorrow please let me know!!

Forgot to mention I CANNOT see the car in person its 1000 miles away I would get it shipped to me. I am getting a video tour. What should I look for?

I didn't have a problem with mine up until I started messing with it and even then still beast mode I've had it for 2 years and maintain it well and no problems so it's been good for me but then again mines was oem everything it all depends on the person who installed the mods depending how well they did....it's a hard choice bro but if u feel like it's good buy it take a chance I know it would such if it wasn't what u expected but honestly I feel like I over paid for my car but I don't regret it one bit

I've never known an older man to stance the car and do nose chop. Otherwise still not a bad deal.

^This.

And just looking at the pics provided I wouldn't go near that car.

Way more often than not, dealers will tell buyers anything they want to hear to sell a car and I'd bet that's happening here.

I don't know if you're asking me, but I'd suggest skipping on buying a car from there. We already know they're very likely lying by saying some old dude owned this car and pampered it. The car is stanced and old dudes don't do that. That's something young idiots do. And also calling that the cleanest Evo? I like the hazy headlights and the faded black plastic trim by the mirrors. I like all the pics to show the detail of how clean this car is. They've had ample time to post more pics- I mean, they've only had it since June.

I'm pretty certain that there are guys on this forum who either work at that dealership or own it. I see them selling parts and requesting parts to buy to return cars to stock. Personally I'd suggest avoiding that place like the plague.

Hold off

Honestly, if anyone that tells you that they babied there evo is straight lying! I have yet to meet anyone who hasn't driven there evo hard. Just keep up with the maintenance(which does get costly) and Be familiar with Murphy's Laws " what can happen will happen" when it comes to owning a evo. If i were you, I would just hold off, there are plenty of great reads on evom about owners with 180k plus and there evos run meticulously with no huge issues. My evo just broke 100k and it still runs smooth. 26k for a lightly modded evo just is too much money the mods it has are simple mods (noob mods ), if the evo was BONE stock i'd say haggle the asking price. But For 26k you can find a built one and probably be alittle bit happier. Either way the choice is yours! Quick example :My 05 evo 8 i paid just alittle under 13.8k (3 years ago) bone stock with 88k (only mod was a stereo system and turbo timer ) , my friend bought a evo 9 (cat back, blow off valve and all the bolt ons ) black for 28k with 44k for 27k from a dealer. Hes done 3 clutch jobs , a transmission, and replaced all the wheel bearings. Point is what can happen will happen!

Damn that sucks to hear but most of it sounds logical to me. I thought the old man thing was bs too. It does have a good serice history and physical records though. But if thats not good enough then that sucks. They have another with 63k miles for 23k claiming most of the same thing sayin its clean with carfax one owner and stock besides exhaust. Would this be more ideal? Given your knowledge what is a way to somewhat feel confident buying this other evo thats pretty much stock with aparent good history? I dont really have anyone to teach me these things. Any advice is much appretiated
