I personally like and always recommend the ETS 3.5" core. Excellent performance, quality and a very fair price on them!

This is the one I picked up for my Evo 8 with 9 front bumper and I will be getting one soon for my Evo X

get the garrett 3.8 core

If cost is no object, or you want to be a little bit of a baller, get the CBRD setup with a short-route UICP, the only short-route solution with a full-size battery, AFAIK.

I just ordered the short route UICP kit from CBRD, which I'll install with the Perrin intake when I do it.

Not to de-rail this thread, but OP why do you insist on making pointless threads/posts asking silly questions?! See that big white SEARCH BAR at the top of the website's page...all the questions you've asked can be found by using that helpful tool. I suggest you give it a try.

+1 on ETS. 3.5" core will be sufficient for the power goals on most cars while retaining minimum pressure drop.

I'm pretty sure the weights are documented somewhere but the stock piece is def the lightest.

Any bar and plate intercooler will be heavier relative to a comparable tube and fin of equal size. Unfortunately almost all of the aftermarket intercoolers are bar and plate. The only tube and fin that I know of aside from the stock piece is the ARC so if you are looking for an upgraded unit over the stock IC the ARC is the one to get

Stock, IIRC, is ~11lbs. My Buschur (3.5") is ~21lbs.

1. Depends on power goals and setup.

2. "Best" is relative.

3. Search!

MOST Fmics sold by quality vendors use a Garrett 3.8 core. Buscher, cbrd, jmf. Ets can also make you a Garrett 3.8 core fmic OR their ets 4.0 inch fmic which is just as efficient.. Whichever of those cores you find cheaper, buy it. They have data backing them up so you can't go wrong..

Does the 3.8 core require any cutting on Evo 8-9 Bumper? I know the 3.5 fits with no modifications!
