Coming from a person who also just bought a modified Evo 9...

Don't go too crazy with it until you get it inspected. (Compression test, boost leak, ect ect.)

I bought my IX day before Christmas eve. Signed the paperwork and headed home. My friend was driving the Evo and he gave it 70% of throttle in 4th and flew by me. seconds later my heart sank as I saw burnt oil spewing out of the exhaust pipe. Brought it back to the dealer and they had the turbo rebuilt. All covered under the 30day/1000 mile warranty the state forces on dealerships that sells cars under 60K miles (Yes I am super ****ing lucky)

Issue was, vacuum leaks. (FPR line popped out, and EGR Lines popped out). Did a compression test and they were 135ish all around.

Not to worry! My 5th gear grinds too, I have an MR. The sound at high rpms might be a dump or ewg? Don't know any places in SD but LA is the place to go to get your car tuned. I'd recommend Road Race Engineering (RRE), not from experience but from the great things I've heard from them.

full fluids replacement before you even rev it up, if it wasnt already done and I would compression test it too if its under warranty, even take it to a good mechy for a once over report.

thanks for all the responses and yea "he sound at high rpms might be a dump or ewg" thinking that aswell , the car also has no Cats on it so maybe a exhaust leak somewhere too sounds like it definitely needs to go into a shop asap get tests ran on it
