your opinion required - should i get a vanity plate?

I'm hearing some good and bad opinions from my mates :

Bad:
if someone sees you speeding they can remember your plate easier and report it
If you park your car any where it attracts unwanted attention
Depending on what you get it can be *****

Good:
It can make your car look individual, maybe cool?

what do you guys think?

I'am against the idea of having a vanity plate. Specifically because people would mess with your car if they knew it was yours..like friends or people that don't like you. Or the unwanted attention. Easier for people to remember your plate, not assuming you have terrible or aggressive driving skills.

I've had one before and somebody that I knew thought it would be funny to park really close to my car...so when I got back to it I had to go through the passenger side.

if your in CA they are reintroducing the historic black plate with yellow lettering. I have a black car so i will be picking one up when available. Don't really care what it says, or you could make it custom hard to read, li1il1i , 3E3EE33, QO0OQ0....

i thought i read you have to have a car made during the specified years. is this not right? if not, the old plates would look great on the black. they are also reissuing the blue ones, i think.. but those are uuuuuuuuuugly LOL

Last I heard black plates were for pre 70's cars only, but if they do that would look sick, I think we make our cars unique anyways so a plate won't make a difference for people to distinguish or mess with it, and it's super easy for people to get you plate number as well, like a pix with their phone, and they will still have you plate number, I'm getting one made (work related plate), so I vote for yes cause I don't see why not! at the end it's all up to you!

You own list had 3 against and 1 for the plates.---guessing I would draw my own conclusion from that.

For me vanity plates are just one of thousand of ways to personalize your car. I'd say, whatever makes you happy, go for it.
