I thought it is about time to make an account and introduce myself, as I mainly use this forum for the Evo Engine Management / Tuning Forums section.
My weekend/trackday car is an evo 6 RS2 left hand drive which is quite rare over here & probably non existent in the US
RS2 has a more spotwelds then a GSR/TME so a stiffer chassis
no climate control only A/C
5speed short ratio
no AYC but a rs diff
no ACD but a helical torsen diff
no ABS
has recaro "bucket" seats from the factory
so a real drivers car
Currently has 70.000 km's (43.000miles) on the clock.
It's mainly used in the weekend when i take it to Germany for some laps on the nurburgring, been going there for the last 10 years as it is only a 2,5 hour drive from where i live.
And i yearly do a trackday on SPA Francorchamps aswell.
It runs a conservative 350bhp.
all bushings and suspension are from ralliart & i recently did a full underbody restoration to protect it from rust in the future.
i was lucky enough that it only had some minor surface rust.
evo 5 lhd are very few left, most of them were bought by rally teams straight from the factory (around 265 ) doubt there are many left, i've personally never seen one not even for sale.
LHD Evo 6 are available in the following specs:
RS: no A/C, no electric mirrors or windows, no sound insulation, short ratio gearbox (max about 225 km/h); no ABS
RS2: A/C, elec windows and mirrors, long ratio gearbox (max 253 km/h) no ABS
TME RS: as RS but with TME bumper and seats, very rare
TME RS2: as RS2 but with AYC (the "no oversteer" rear diff, 30 kg weight) and ABS
i think if you come to a total of 100 of all of the above LHD's in Europe that you are already stretching that number.
the only place i ever see another LHD evo is on the nurburgring and even there it's very rare & special yearly trackday event for only evo's!
I know someone who has a mint factory condition TME RS in storage with only 2000km's on the clock. still has the new car smell.
the most recent low mileage TME RS with around 40.000km was sold for around 50.000 dollars.
there is a bargain to be done in the Netherlands at the moment on the only LHD RS sold in that country.
i was thinking on buying it as an investment, but i currently already have to much cars
