Finally..

I fell into a great buy on a tarmac black 03 I couldn't pass up. It's basically stock with only 54k on the clock. I'm glad I waited to buy just the right one, I'm super happy with it. I don't want to start ripping into it and doing a bunch of mods for a while, but is there anything you veteran evo guys think I should do? Other than the obvious maintenance stuff I mean. Just little improvements maybe.

First though you may want to be sure you have 700-1k set aside cause in the next 6k you'll need to replace the timing components.

Just as an FYI!!!

Gorgeous car

Clean car. I picked up an 05 Evo 8 six months or so ago after considering an Evo for a long time. I'm still very happy with the choice.

What is done to it right now? You said basicly stock. If it has any performance stuff like an exhaust or intake you should definitely get it tuned. A tune makes a big difference and also piece of mind in case the previous owner had a bad tune on it or removed parts before selling it and didn't have the tune redone.

The only thing done to it is a new battery and tires, sorry my wording was bad. It is stock, it was owned by an older guy that user it to commute. I paid 19 for it though so I'm super happy.

Everyone has different opinions on exhaust. I've been looking at the Buschur TBE, I have seen a few vids on YouTube and I really like the deep sound of it.

I'm a mechanic and work in a parts store so doing a timing job won't be so bad. Perks of the job I guess. Next I need to find a good tuner...that may be a problem around here.

If you have never done timing components on a 4G63 before DO NOT go in blind mechanically inclined or not. Follow either write ups on here off the net. FSM is ok but there are way better outlined guides out there.

Parts alone will cost you ~500 assuming OEM
