First car..
Now what if I propose this idea, I but a shell.. There's 2 in my local area and if I buy the shell I can slowly build it up. I do work two jobs, part time at a maintenance department and weekends at a local pet store. After high school I plan on going to a police academy, then being a state trooper and then go into correctional officer after awhile. If I get the shell then I will be driving my family car till I graduate then I'm on my own being I'm 18. That what my parents have done with all my older siblings. But what do you guys think about a shell? Just buy it out right. Then once it's road worthy insure it and go from there. One guy is selling his shell for 5,500 obo. Needs a transfer case, engine, trans, and the engine harness. Everything else is there. To me it doesn't seem like a bad idea, what do you guys think. I'm really itching for a Evo.. So I'm going to be very persistent with trying to get one.

Do you have tools? Engine Hoist? Access to a lift? Are you extremely mechanically inclined or do know someone who is and is willing to put in months of work to help you?
You're better off driving your parents' car and saving your money for something when you are older.
Wait until you're older... As others have said, 16 year olds should not be behind the wheel of a car like this since you have zero experience behind the wheel of any car yet. Get a beater to learn on, and once you have a few years of experience and money saving, buy one then. I wanted an Evo forever, and I just bought my first one at 24. Patience is a virtue.
