EVO 8 versus EVO 9 Cams

Hi guys,

I've searched the google and found no details on how differently aftermarket cams affect these two cars.

From what I've read the cams help out EVO VIIIs a lot with making more power, and it appears that it isn't necessarily the case with an EVO 9. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

My goal is to make about 350whp+ on a Dynojet and I will be going E85 on a stock turbo.

What are your thoughts on this?

Stock turbo - No need in changing OEM cams on the 9, 400whp is pretty much the limit for that turbo.

Do you have an VIII or IX?

If a IX, you won't need cams to make that power on e85.
I'm pretty sure it's the same for an VIII

Neither. I'm looking at both currently. I'm more leaning towards the 9 however.

Thanks for the response. I'm not looking to make more than 400whp. Anywhere near or slightly above 350 would be enough for me.

Either car should do that. A IX will have a better torque curve and maybe a bit more peak.
But if you're mostly focusing I straight-line stuff, I'd recommend an VIII. No need to pay the premium of a IX.

I found a pretty good deal on the IX. I would pay a slight premium on a IX.
