New from the Mitten with an 05 SSL

Been lurking EvoM for years, finally purchased an Evo.

Well, I should say I purchased a project. I purchased a nearly complete 2005 SSL. The previous owner bought it with jumped timing and had plans to fix it. He never did and decided he wanted the cash for a dirtbike so he sold it to me at a loss. The block is toast, so a 90k mile stock shortblock will be going in. Head has bent valves but came with new Supertech valves, guides, and Kiggly hp springs. Lots of OEM parts ordered for the rebuild job along with a few "upgrade" like an intake and a Comp stage II clutch. Only modifications include a DTM intercooler, Buschur O2 housing and an unknown brand catback. Not planning on doing a whole lot more at this point, although I'll probably have it tuned somewhere down the road. Looking for a comfortable secondary DD that's fun to drive, maybe one or two roadcourse days a year but I still have a miata for those.

Hey, thanks for posting & congrats on the purchase. Looks pretty clean, but like you noted there is some mechanical work to be done

We do have a projects thread if you wanted to start one & document the re-build.

Great to have you join us & make yourself at home here

If you have any questions, let me know

Joe

Thanks!

I come from the DSM world and just tearing this thing apart I'm realizing they are very similar to work on. I have a 90 TSI AWD that I've ran 11.0 @ 125 with on the stock 14b turbo (the quickest/fastest stock turbo awd dsm thus far).

Already over a thousand into the parts list and I'm sure I'll find more I need to finish this thing with. But, I'm hopeful it'll turn out well. Worst part is needing someone to assemble the head and the wait time involved with that.
