New from 505

I'm flying out to go see a few Evo's. one is GSR, the other is MR. Since I've never owned either, i want to compare the two before purchasing.
I plan to daily it, with mild mods. not wanting to set land-speed records, so I'm not too concerned with the Transmission limitations. If you will,
please chime in on your pros/cons to both. I value input.

thanks!

Hey Dig

Welcome aboard & thanks for posting. Which EvO are you looking at. The newer X or the 8 / 9?

thanks @Joe

I'm going to see two cars: 13' GSR & 10' MR. I have been looking on the 'private classifieds' on here... oh man! some beauties for sale! tough to decide now...

Hi Dig

Im a 9 owner, so Im not the best at the X. But if you plan on modding the X, I would be interested in finding one w/some of the basics mods already done.

There should be a cost savings, as these mods really shouldnt be adding too much street value

But, then again, finding a non modded X may be a good idea. This way you start from scratch

Either way, make sure its clean. I would recommend an inspection by a mechanic or yourself. Checking the compression is key. I would also check all the under body parts to ensure whats been done (i.e. fender rolling due to aftermarket wheels)

Is this going to be your daily? If not, ever consider the EvO 8 or 9?

Joe

definitely plan to daily it. I have Cameron from Camtuning, Harrison from BoostInc in my back pocket to do a full inspection/compression check for me. they will be my "tuners" in this next project. if the car is right, if the price is right, I'd very much consider a 8, 9, X.

Well, being that its going to be your DD, the X is much more suited for that

@xX_Project_Zero - thanks!

I've been told to NOT buy a modded car from a dealership as they don't know whats going on with the car. I think it might be safest to buy a modded car from one of the private classifieds within here. at least then, i can talk to the owner and discuss what all he/she has gone thru. I'd be happy with a slightly (tasteful) modded car already.

Gotta admit: I like the front ends of the X... so i'm gearing towards that flavor.

Hey @vmrevo9 - thanks!

a guy named Reece is selling a 13' GSR with light mods. i test drove it yesterday. it's a different kind of fun!
currently i drive a 12' Camaro SS completely different cars. I did however, like the "banging" thru the gears...
although I have to admit: there is a lag on initial take off... you need to be in mid range band of the rpm to start
making power. (Whereas I'm used to 400 lb/tq @ 2k rpm) guy is asking $28k with 30k miles.. i'll upload a pic of it
