rev limiter

I heard that there is a "double" rev limiter on the RA's one when cold at like 3500 rpm (I think I hit it once, but I don't know exactly what the limit is if it's there) and then a conventional one at some point top end. Does anyone know what the two limits are? and if there is one when cold. I honestly don't want to try and bounce of the limiter to find where it is.

If this has been answered before, I sorry to repete; but please point me to the posts with the answers. Thanks.

...I don't think there's one at 3500rpm...makes no sense, and when I test drove at the dealer the sales guy started a cold one, pulled it out on the street, and immediately began reving past the 3500 to "demonstrate" the MIVEC....it was...

as for a top out limiter, even if there is, as the thread above indicates you can still max out the speedo...hehe

On a cold motor it will only let you rev to 5000

Let me add to this. I believe it is a safetly feature that only lets you rev to 5000 RPM in nuetral. When in gear being driven you should be able to rev the engine normally.

I'll quote what my manual says :

To protect the engine, the high-speed intake valve mode may
not be selected while the engine coolant temp. is low, In such a case, the engine revolutions do not rise over 5000 rpm even if the accelerator pedal is depressed.

It's page 3- 29 in the manual.....

Well the mistery of the first rev limit is solved (thanks for clearing that up and reminding me that reading the manual helps; though I'm rathar embarased I didn't remember that.) So now I guess we just have to wait untill someone bounces the off the rev limiter at top end to see what it is, or blows the engine and finds there isn't one.....though I would perfer if that didn't happen.

Maybe it just doesnt ever get cold enough in California to test that out. I am going to guinea pig my car later to make sure.

And I hit rev limiter all the time. It sits somewhere between 6800 and 6900 RPM. Dont worry about blowing the motor it will survive.

I'm actually glad to hear I'm not the only one hitting the rev.....I keep saying I'm going to install a shift light....There's just so much power up there I can't stop (until the car stops for me...lol)....
