2k3 EVO or 2k4 EVO or 2k5 EVO MR

I've been waiting on purchaseing my evo to see whats going to happen in 04, now that the mr is comming what do you guys think.

I could get a 03 EVO for like 28k.(and deal with the problems.)
I could wait and get a 05 EVO mr for prob. 33-35k.(and see what problems they have.)
Maybe I should get an 04 EVO for and hope they fixed the rust, trainmission etc. problems?

Thats a huge difference in price, do you guys think the 6-speed and ACD will be worth it?

What do you guys think..

I would go for either the 03 or the 04, I don't really think the 03 really has a bunch of problems because me and my dad both have 03's and have had 0 problems so far. But if you can, go for the MR!!

Just do what I did. Find someone that wants out of their 03 w/ mods and yank it! Miine has over 8K in mods and I got it for $22,500. Now I drove 13 hours to get it, but OMG was it worth it. Save your money, go used.

I believe that you will win with any one of those choices. If you can get your hands on an MR when they come out, that would be a bonus.

I just wanted to point out to you that the problems that you see here on the boards with the 03 Evo is a very small population. Not every Evo owner in the world posts here. Don't make the asumption that every 03 Evo is a POS. Like every car manufacturer, there are lemons. Honda, Nissan, and Toyota don't make a their cars perfect either.

Get yourself a great deal on an '03... You could exclude the MR from consideration if you want a sunroof, I do not think it will be available with one.

As for the problems you mentioned most are due to the end-user. I've never heard of the rust issue

Woops, guess i'm late.

If you get an 03 now, you can always get an 04 or 05 later

Haven't you waited long enough for an Evo? I waited for years for Mitsu to bring an Evo to the US. Are you really considering waiting longer. I say get it now... The 6th gear might be nice for long highway driving but that's about it.

Get it now you will not be disapointed.

Yep, I just picked up my '03 EVO w/ sunroof and big spoiler for $29.3k out the door or $26.8k before tax and licensing. That was about 4200 off MSRP. I got an extra $500 off for mitsu loyalty rebate. Think of all the mods you can get for the money you'll save on an 03.

Mine only had 10 miles on it when I test drove it. Build date is 10/03, so I know it hasn't been sitting in the dealer lot for a year. My only complaint about the car so far is the notchy shifting. But having owned 2 DSMs before this, I'm used to how these mitsu trannies are. It can be made better by applying the same tricks to it.
