Prospective Evo 8/9 Buyer

Hey everyone, my name is Kevin and I just wanted to drop in and say hello!

If all goes well, I'll be looking to purchase an S2000 or Evo 8/9 as my next car in a few months' time.

I know both cars are very fun to drive and modify, but I'm leaning towards the Evo 8/9 because of the practicality since this will be my everyday car.

I'm looking forward to checking out some build threads and garnering some ideas for, hopefully, my own car soon!

I just went through this process. I would keep an extra 5k on top for security money. If all goes well you can use it towards parts.

daily driver you’ll want to have quite a bit of maintenance done, and have a tune done you can trust. Unless you find one with meticulous records and tuned with documentation from a reputable place

Thanks for chiming in! I will heed your suggestion on having money set aside just in case. With the exception of adding an air-oil separator and a Fluidampr, I told myself that I'd be keeping the vehicle unmodified for 6-12 months. I'd like to take this time to "learn" the Evo and decide what modifications I'd like to add to the car.

Besides being very meticulous myself, I am fortunate enough to have a friend who is very well-versed with these cars who has offered a helping hand with inspecting any potential candidates come purchase time.

It appears that these cars are becoming increasingly difficult to source in what I deem to be "good" condition, but I know it's worth holding out for the right car rather than settling.
