Unhappy is my boost right?

i just installed my defi boost guage.

but when i was testing it, it really only peaked in the first few gears, at like 17psi.

which i know its normal for stock boost to kinda taper but it never hit 19 till 5th gear.

is this normal?

I have a boost controller to put in, will this make it stay @ 19 psi in every gear?

thanks

That's normal in 1st, maybe 2nd gear, but third, fourth and fifth should hit 18-19 psi no problem, then taper off. It takes the turbo time to spool up, and first gear goes by so fast it almost can't catch up to the intake draw, 2nd may also have a little problem too. Another thing to consider, what was the outside temp? The ECU does adjust boost depending on air density, etc, so you might see variation from time to time with that. If you still have problems, try tightening the pressure-side clamp on the blow-off valve. It's the connection that leads from the BOV to the intercooler pipe going to the turbo. A few folks on the board (including me) have solved a minor boost leak by tightening that.
Good luck!
