so I’ve been researching both the 8,9 Evo’s and I’m curious what y’all think is a respectable amount to pay for close to stock. There’s a couple dealers selling for almost MSRP of NEW for ones with under 100k miles and basic bolt ons.
Facebook market place is saturated with built evos or someone who played too much Need for Speed style Evos, for around 20k.

Ive checked Kelly Blue Book & they seem close to market value. And yes, EvO 8's & 9's have increased in value and $20K is certainly an avg cost ive seen lately

thanks Joe,
I do agree, 20-25k does seem fair. But there’s quite a few for well over 30k listed at “dealers”. Strange!
Well over 30k is likely to be the future standard for these cars. For 20-25 you're likely getting either sky high mileage or modded to **** with no taste. I don't know what constitutes a saturated marketplace but evos aren't a dime a dozen. And for people who want them, they really want them. I'd rather have a evo 9 than a r34 gtr or supra tt. Would personally pay up to 60k for a clean low mileage evo 9 RS. Evos aren't subpar tuners and it ain't 2008 anymore. Expect to pay more for less or look into the poor man's evo, a wrx.
Prices seem to have increased a bit, as of late. I think they hype from Bring a Trailer is finally having it's effect. I'm seeing cars in the 100k mileage range, or above, around $15-18k, depending on condition. Most I'm seeing with less than 100k miles are around $20k. There some outliers who are relying TOO much on BaT and asking $30-50k
What they are actually selling for is a bit different. I've privately contacted sellers, out of curiosity, and you would be surprised of how little some of these people have settled for. Of course, some were quick, fire sales, etc.
Based on info from the actual sellers, it looks like $13-15k for 100k+ mileage cars and $15-18k for less mileage, and a couple actually sold for $20k-23k because they were in really good shape. These are all in USD.
When people ask what these cars are selling for, everyone quotes listed asking prices, not the amount they are actually selling. That's important and what really matters, IMO.
I mention my conversations with previous owners/sellers as a counter point for the recent auction cars that allegedly sold for $30k+. It makes no sense, but maybe there are still people out there that don't know what these cars are actually selling for? Not sure. Also, there is rumor that BaT may not be on the "up and up" by reporting "record breaking sales" in order to drum up more business. Maybe, but there is a guy on this board that says he is one of the people that paid $30k+ for his car. The BaT hype does seem to be real for some sellers, though.
I, for one, would love to see the values go up, for ANY reason. I don't see myself keeping mine forever and would love to get a few extra $$$s out of it.

That’s great knowledge, thanks!
Speaking of BaT, there’s an 04 with less than 2hrs to go, sitting at 24k. 57k miles too. I’m guessing it’ll sell around 25-26k. I’ll be sending that page to sellers asking for $30k+ With mods and 80k miles 🤣

If it works, I say go for it! I honestly think there are people on BaT that don't research or look elsewhere. If you can hook one of those peeps, you are golden! Maybe I should list my car there. I can make back what I paid for the car AND the money I've put into it LOL
I think we need to keep in mind that the last two BAT sales were in fact BONE stock examples. Not "stock" with "only" exhaust, cams, and tune.
Aside from BAT I haven't seen an actual STOCK Evo listed for sale. Every so often one pops up here or on eBay but ultimately ends up on BAT and that's for a reason. Wide audience, great user commentary and usually well followed.

I have a race ready evlevo IX that is all OEM per SCCA requirements. I have only <6000 mi on it. The only non OEM change is to 4 piston Brembo brakes. The car does have professionally installed roll cage and tow hooks. Interesting note Paul Newman backed into this car
at Watkins Glen. With this low a miles and all OEM do you think I could get decent price for this car.
