03 evo 8

I just fell in love with the evo after seeing a stock one smoke all competition at an autocross. I test drove an 03 at the dealership and I wonder how long have the evo 8's been around? Where they released in 02 or when in 03? This car is priced at 26900 which is not bad but should I get it for lower?

Thanks in advace from an evo newb

Hi,

The USDM EVO 8 is new for 2003. If 26900 for a new car is a good deal. Many of us paid 30 to 35K one year ago. Make sure it does not have a lot of dealer miles as the test driver's and dealership employees drive the snot out of them.

There were 2 "new" evo's that sold on Ebay from a dealer in Minnesota for $24,900. They only had about 100 or so miles on them, which I think was still a great deal, even though they were most likely very hard miles.

Anyway, $26,900 seems like a decent deal, but I would try and negotiate for something closer to $25K or so- it's worth a try.

However, if the cars only have delivery miles on them, I would expect to pay $26K or so.

It had just over 200 miles (20 of them were from me). But my main question hasn't been answered. When was the 2003 evo first released to dealerships?

Maybe March or February of 2003. If you do this one, either negotiate for a lower price or try to get a signed agreement to replace the clutch if it goes out at a low mileage. Those test drivers may have rode the clutch a lot.

The prices for their respective stages do not include install and tuning.

Money well spent, however.

Nothing! The EVO doesn't need any mods.
