Hi all. I come here to get your opinions and perhaps straight facts that would mean this is just plain silly.
I've been wanting an evo with varying levels of seriousness and possibility for over a decade now and recently there came to me an idea for something let's call it different although it might be heretical or just dumb to many.
Would it be possible do you think to take an evo 4 and revert it cosmetically, at least from the outside view, to a base lancer? I find the idea of driving the beast of a car that the lanevo is in the guise of a humble little grocery-getter exciting and amusing.
I like stealthy cars that perform well but dont make it known at a first (or better even second) glance to everyone around. Lastly any evo except maybe the X would problably attract more attention than I personally care for where I live.
That being said what would be the things that would make it an impossible or not feasible project?
I have still quite limited knowledge but from the top of my head:
- the intercooling would probbably be a challenge with so little space under the bumper cover, seen an 1g eclipse built in similar spirit use the stock eclipse intercooler mounted in the front wheelwell although the guy admitted high intake temps with this
- the engine overheating for a lack of vents, with generally chill driving and the ocasional boost may be not a problem?
- the base lancer bonnet having clearance issues with the 4G?
Thoughts on these and additional points please?
Here's a pic of what I have in mind aesthetically. I find the lancer quite a charming little car actually though much of it is nostalgia no doubt. Also imagine this thing doing awd skids in the snow and making turbo noises. Thanks for stopping by.
Ahoj! I also dont like to draw attention so I kept my evo as stock from outside as possible. In my country there are so many "tuned" german cars with exhausts as loud as a space shuttle taking off that sometimes I feel unnoticed. But of course it's not even close to stealth level you want to approach. I can see that base lancer has some vents in bumper. Probably most of them are dummies but you can remove them and add some black mesh to filter rocks etc. I did it with other car and it looked super stock with way more cooling. Also you can buy special adapters to lift the bonnet up, both to improve clearance and cooling.
