Good morning Evom community. Good timing allowed me to pick up a ****box project 05 8 MR. The car needs a bit of work and has definitely been neglected(sat for four years before I picked it up, not running) so might start a project thread. Original color is GG and currently faded EB. I've a had a DSM, Volkswagens, WRX, higher mileage Evo 9 before with the rain gremlins and this one possibly has that as well. This car is bone stock except for crappy fiberglass JDM rear bumper and some CWest rep sideskirts. Look forward to learning from everyone, using the search function, and restoring this car back to GG with tune and fbo (just installed the missing rear roll stopper motor mount-PITA) I'm currently a Industrial mechanic so mechanically inclined but suck with electrical diag but will learn over time, since I'm currently trying to troubleshoot a driveability issue.
Thanks!
Cool, can't wait to see where this goes. 05 is a special year for the evo 8. Definiltey a rare find. Although I'd say abit of work is a big understatement. This is a full on project.
Yeah, it needs some TLC for sure and the car has complete interior as well. It will be a fun weekend play car eventually. Paint will be last and have already received most of the maintenance it needs. Appreciate it. I like the 05 8's and 9 RS, and SE's.

Yea it looks like it got all its og goodies included the bbs wheels which are very hard to come by. 06 rs is the king of evos. Thats my opinion. Had a 32k mile 04 rs and just cant beat the raw analogue feeling. Totalled it an got an 06 gsr but it's so modified and weight reduced it may as well be an rs lol.
If I had to pick another evo it would be an 05 MR. No sunroof is a must for me and I love the added bonus of them having Aluminum roofs. Again good find and good luck I hope you start a build thread. Do you planning an oem restoration or...?

Yes I agree. I also love Evo 3-6 RS's. Hoping one day to score a 3 RS but the electric windows would be nice for the occasional drive-thru. That could be fun but there's a current build thread going on with a Aussie guy and he's doing basically all the same stuff I would do to this car minus his has a healthy original engine. I'm not doing an OE restoration, but OE paint color. I don't like how they handle stock unless it has some type of rear diff upgrade. I'm doing a track, canyon, weekend bruiser build. Suspension, brakes, 2.2l, 500/400ish on E, TRE drivetrain and GG respray on widish 200 or 100tw tires. Should be fun when finished and the car will be staying a 6 speed (since it's a MR) with a Neat Gearboxes 4th upgrade.
