I joined these forums 10yrs ago day dreaming about owning an Evo 8/9 when I was a 09 Mazdaspeed 3 owner. I finally made that happen unintentionally a month ago when I acquired my 2005 Evo VIII MR. Car has 135k miles, clean title, 0 accidents and has only lived in Texas since new in 2004. I later discovered all VINS are matching as well which I thought was cool. I had Kozmic Motorsports did a PPI for me and gave me the greenlight on this car being a solid example to build upon with healthy compression, leak down and bore scope photos. Needs some maintenance here and there but it’s expected for a 20yr old car.
It checked my box of an OEM+ kinda build which is my preference, made 412whp/386wtq on JMS Racing’s dynojet 10yrs ago. Runs on E85 only with old school mods such as Kelford 272’s, Perrin intake, AMS Intercooler, Precision Injectors, Delfi boost gauge and HKS turbo timer. Has a Quaife LSD in the tcase per the records and was able to get in touch with the owner on the documents David who did all the mods 2009-22’. He also confirmed he did the waterpump and timing belt during his ownership.
My other fun car is a 2011 Honda Civic Si sedan with upgraded K24, built transmission and a PRL turbo kit. It too runs on E85 making around 550whp on a lazy PSR DBB 6980 turbo. Pic from last night My 2011 turbo K24 Civic Si and the Evo 8 MR Replaced 20yr old OEM oil cooler lines, all parts from STM Tuned
