OZ or ES?
What i am seeing here is the es people liking there car because they know that whatever the oz has they would have changed that in the long run. And the OZ people like there car because it comes with some upgraded parts stock and they dont feel the need to change part right away. So what ever you get im sure you will be happey because everyone seems happy with the choice they made.
PS: I agree with timdog and i love my ES

I went with the ES myself. I am going to be doing lots of body work to my car, and just felt it wasn't worth the couple thousand extra to get the OZ at the start... that was just my opinion.

Lets face it, ES interior is hash compared to the OZ interior.
The only thing that the ES has over the OZ is that straight from the dealership it's lighter so a tiny bit faster. Thats it.
what you will find out that getting a car to look good, is everybit as costly as getting it to go fast. And depending the time period between purchases it's alot harder to look at your ES and be happy with it. The OZ is sexy, period. The ES looks like an econobox. And unless you plan to drop $4,000 from jump to get a kit, install it, tints, wheels, rims, grill etc.....it's going to be hard to look at your ES and feel proud until you start modding it.
From reading your posts, you are into looks more than anything...so you answered your own question....OZ is the answer.

^^^ you werent paying attention, hes getting a bodykit and going show, why pay extras for the oz, when he'll just change it... the thing is, pay more for the oz, and than pay more to change everything about it. Or pay less and get the es and than pay to change everything about it (like i did). Kid, save ya money get an es

The seats in the OZ are a ton more comfortable than the ES seats. Personally, I would go OZ, but if you're planning on modding it out and just using it for shows, the ES may be your best option.
I went with the ES for mod'n. Basicly it all boils down to this:
- ES and OZ have the same engine and suspension differences are negligible (ES is a little higher).
- 15" wheel are too small. 14" are too, but cheaper to replace (make good snow tires)
- OZ spoiler is small and will leave a hole in the middle of your trunk if you replace it with an evo style.
- ES lights are Evo spec (all red)
- Holes for sway bar and bodykit/sides are present on the ES stock
- Black handles and mirrors look fine on a Black or Thunder Grey ES
- ES has a crappy gauge cluster... easily replaced at purchace time
- Interior of ES is not the greatest colour. Seats themselves are the same as OZ.
- No cruise option on ES
- ES is the god of sleeper cars
Especially if you skip the spoiler.
Only problem I have with my ES is the light grey interior (Thunder Grey paint). Otherwise i'm going to make Ralliart drivers cry once my turbo is in there and they think i'm stock
Edit: Handle colours will match if you get the Convenience Package. Don't buy a Neon SRT-4, the insurance will kill you.

first off, the es and ls interiors are FUGLY, they are boring as hell, and im talking seat colors, stitching, dash. and if you want to upgrade to a body kit later, no prob, there are plenty of evom members willing to buy the oz skirts. as for the stock tires, maybe you can work a deal with the dealer to switch them out to hubs, then go ahead and uprgade them. just go OZZZZZZZ
Personally I bent over backwards to get the OZ when I was buying my car - and yes, purely because of the interior and exterior cosmetics - because I knew I would never (in the near future) have all the cash to continuously do all the necessary upgrades - and I am a big fan of OEM look - and also figured it would be difficult to come by original OZ / evo interior parts, ie: all the leather wrapped stuff - and the biggest part was that I knew I wanted yellow - and to get that paint job would probably be too costly / time consuming / unattainable for me in the furure as well - but I do applaud the people who are willing to put a decent amount of time and effort into upgrading, I just knew that I would personally never be as satisfied if I didn't get the OZ - since my personal goals with the car include less cosmetics; however already decent factory looks - and I think the differences become less and les the more you plan on doing to it. I say 1 ES here on EVOm that I thought looked amazing - it was white, w. white rims, lowered, and a whole bunch of JDM stuf on it - then it ended up wrecked - but just goes to show they are truly an identical car with equal potential IMO.

when i was searching for a car, i wanted a base model ES. i made the dealer search up and down cali. for one and they kept comin back at me with OZ's. they finally found two red ones and a silver one. i chose an ES because i knew i would be racing it, and it is a little bit lighter than an OZ, and everything that i would be doing to it would have just ended up replacing everything that made an OZ an OZ.
