EVO turbo care?

This is my first post. I am the proud owner of a rally red EVO VIII brand new! The car feels awesome so far. I had a 2002 WRX but it was wrecked by a drunk driver on heroin Anyway I have been trying to find out a few things. Is a turbo timer necessary? In the EVO manual it says says nothing about waiting to shut your car off. I was also wondering when I should have my first oil change. At 1000 miles or 3,000. Any other advice for a new owner would be very nice thanks!

from what i have heard. a turbo timer is used to keep PSI from going too high and morons who dont know how to control their car and end up blowing up their engine. I would suggest a turbo timer for safety reasons. BTW welcome to evom and hope u enjoy ur toy

a TT isnt necessary. nsxtyper you are mistaken. a TT keeps your car running for few minutes after you shut off your car and leave.

A turbo timer have nothing to do with PSI. I had many turbo car and I always let them cool down before shuting. That could range between 1 min to 5 min. The mobil oil in our evos help so much however i will still let it cool down. I recommand changing the oil @ 500 then 1500 miles and after that @ 2500 every time. However its all about your driving style.
