Hey, this is my first post... ever.
I was one of the first kids on the block to drive a 350Z and I loved it.
But, since I work for Nissan and they are going to lay me and my co-workers off - I told them they could have it back.
So I bought an Evo. The Z was an awesome car - I couldn't say enough good things about it. It was tight.
But driving the Evo for a little over a week, now - I like it even better.
I just have a couple questions for you guys that have been driving your EVO VIII's for a while...
What kind of mods can I do on the cheap to gain a few HP? Preferably without voiding the warranty...
How long do the tires hold up? (not long, since I like to "drive it like I stole it"... and any good suggestions for replacement tires that might last longer.)
Um... oh yeah, finally - I've seen guys (when I had the Z) launch WRX's like a rubber-band shot - I don't get the AWD launch thing - and I hate the thought of learning by trial and error and burning up a clutch.
So any input on that would be nice, too.
I think it is an awesome, monstrous, totally cool car... my black wench, and I love it.
All I'm gonna do externally is tint the windows - but I'd like to make it even meaner than it already is without spending a ton of money... I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Keep it between the ditches,
Mike

Tires will last 8-12k miles.

As far as launching goes, read through all the "my clutch is shot at 5000 miles!" posts and that should convince you that launching an AWD car with sticky tires isn't the best idea...
