Ok, I'll give this a try.
Just as you probably have a bank account which you can deposit or withdraw funds from, you need a web "hosting" account which lets you copy files into it. The web hosting account is sometimes called "your web space." Your host account needs to be running on a server (a special type of computer) which the internet can see and find. Your host account is specific to you alone and has a specific address on the 'net.
Your host account starts out as an empty bucket. You can put whatever you want in terms of picture or text files into it as long as you haven't filled up the bucket yet. If you fill it up, you have to take out items before anything else can be put in.
If you use a major ISP (Internet Service Provider) such as Earthlink or AT&T, your monthly fee typically includes a 10MB host account. If you use something else, you have to check with that ISP to see if anything is included with your monthly fee.
Once you've confirmed that you have "web space", you need a program that will let you copy or transfer files from your PC to your hosting account. To do this, you need a FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program. You usually can download some of these for free or on a trial basis. WSFTP and CuteFTP are two that come to mind.
Assuming that goes well, you now have a file or file(s) copied into your host account. Now, you want to post a thread on EvoNet so that everyone can see your cool nitrous kit that you just took pictures of last night.
Here is where you insert the correct "link" to your picture within the forum thread you are creating. The img and /img are "tags" that let the forum software (what runs EvoNet) know that you are inserting a picture.
A rough example:
imghttp://home.attbi.com/members/cdt2322/nitrous1.jpg/img
If this was a valid address or link, the picture would be displayed in the thread. I can't correctly enclose the img tags in brackets [] as they need to be since I am typing a "link" to something which doesn't exist.
Do a little search on web hosting on either yahoo or msn, there's probably a much more in depth tutorial about the concepts involved and the process required.

not true about having to host them, if they are under 100k you can upload them from your pc and attach them,
also if you do choose to host them
geocities.com
idrive.com *(not sure if they're still free)
are both easy to use sites that allow you to use *free space
