Mods...what do you think??

I am considering springs and the AEM EMS.

I use the car for the daily driver, and I will probably make it to the track in the near future. I want the springs to get rid of the gap but keep the ride tolerable ...stock-like. I am also concerned with beating the shocks to death with the springs...what do you think? Tein, Bilstein?

As far as the AEM, I read the other posts and it seems like mixed reviews, some say it is hassle free...others don't agree. I would love to have the performance, but I am trying to avoid the headaches, as I would not be able to tune the system myself. Any suggestions?

Thanx people.

does anyone know if the H & R has the springs out for us?

I would like that 1.4 front drop and 0.3 drop on the back. And German springs are good.

I would go with the JIC Magic 2 Coil Overs but they are pretty expensive but well worth the money. As far as the AEM i currently have one and converted to Speed Density and i love it. You will definetly gain HP over the stock ECU and by just converting to Speed Density gains have been seen up to 40whp. The problem with the AEM is you really need someone that is certified to tune it. But once tuned you can not beat the performace of a true stand alone!

ditto, agreed. your other options could be using an TSX Utec they run about the same price range and power gains and potentials are all up to how you tune it. as for springs and shocks, i suggest if you save a bit more money you can go with coilovers. FLTA2's are great but expensive like he said, but FLTA1's are good for mild street and track with adjustable dampening and ride height. They also are inexpensive. i can hook you up if your interested just send me a pm.

This may sound dumb but "speed density?" Are you referring to a preset on the AEM, like a MAP or MAF setting. This tuning thing is new to me. I have always been into the audio side of things but the engine/performance is new territory.

As far as the FLTA 1's, are they on the site? I will take a look.

I want to stay cost effective, but I do not plan on going the "cheap" way...but inexpensive is good I bought my exhaust from you guys(Vivid) and would def. do business w/your shop again.

Thanks.

Basically speed density is when you get rid of your MAF sensor and change over to a MAP sensor. Your engine then works off air pressure instead of air flow. Allot more accurate and you always lose the restriction of the MAF sensor in your intake which is were you gain your HP. Ya any JIC coilovers are awsome and i plan of getting them real soon. Now back to VIVID! Hey man hook me up!! If you can get a good deal on some JIC and Volk CE28N you got a buyer! Let me know and back to techause comment your service is great!

Thanks. You got me in a bit of a fix here. The price is great, but I am leaning towards higher end power mods first(ie. aem) while using the springs to get a lower stance while saving some $. If you had to go w/springs which would be most favorable? I am not trying to be cheap, rather I can't do it all at once and the shop around here is asking 1900.00 for the AEM(includes tuning). SO to buy the JIC's now may not be in the budget. On the other hand you may be right, leave the suspension for now and buy the JIC, or something like them when extra cash comes in. Decisions....decisions....

Thanks for all of the input.

Thats what i would do but it just depends on what the owners wants. Some owners already like the way the car feels so they go for looks. Some like the way it looks and goes for more power. Just up to you. Personally im getting all my engine work done first then the JIC and Volk's will go in place at the end unless i can get a good deal!! And that deal on the AEM is not bad at all. It cost me about 1400 with all the sensors and everyhting and its gonna cost me another 1K to get it tuned with 2 maps.

tuning AEM

If you only have an AEM w/wideband and MAP,can't you get a map from someone else to save the tuning costs and dyno time?

Yea you can but every car is different and to get the most out of it its best to get it tuned. But there are maps online you can get with similar mods to yours and then you can load that map up so when you do get it tuned it will be allot less money since you already have the basics.

OHLINS!!! We have them on our red shop car, and love them to death. They are a bit more then a shock spring combo, but my god they are great. The ride quality is better then stock, yet they still good enough to compete in supercar shootouts.

As for engine controls, we sell ecu flashes and xede piggy backs. Both have full control over all of the mapping tools such as fuel, and timing curves, and are upgradeable as you progress to further mods.

Wow, Just reading your discussions I've already learned alot about EMS's. I agree with you guys about the AEM ems sounds pretty bad ***. Bad thing is I live in North Carolina...yeah. Anywho anyone one know of any certified tuners in the south eastern part of the country? I don't seem to have any luck with my search as of yet. Any info is greatly appreciated.
