introduction and a possible purchase of a Yellow EVO

Just thought to introduce myself and hopefully ill be buying this yellow EVO at a local dealership.Having gone thru the boards in last few weeks,i think there seem to be quite a few issues with this particular car atleast at the moment.Hwoever seeing how Mitsu is in trouble and denying the warrenty claims i think i might wait another year before i buy one.Any thoughts ?

This shouldn't be your only source!

I may have been one of the first to have purchaced an evo in my area on march 2003. I haven't experienced any of the problems that have been posted on this board and it there maybe a few good reasons why. I am a passionate driver and well rounded in driving skills and techniques, But most of all is my mechanical skill when it comes to working with different types of cars. The best of cars all have weak points and it for you to know them and only then you can have great driving experience and ownership.

If their is any doubt about buying it then don't. There has to be a real love for this car to even consider buying. Let me tell you a few things about this car and i am not bias.
1. This is not a drag car .
2. This a not a daily driver family car.
3. Just like any other car is not built to be abused.

Good luck with you next car purchase and even if it's not an evo.

I took delivery of my Rally Red Evo in March last year, and I've had zero issues with the car that dealership did not solve without batting an eyelash.

(1) < 5k until 600
(2) no launches until > 3000
(3) no sustained high speeds until > 3000

Also, get to know the dealership you are considering working with. My dealership is currently fixing an oil leak caused by the failure of my aftermarket oil temp guage. They installed it for me, and they are covering it under warranty.

I drive mine on a daily basis, and I drive it hard. As I've told the folks at the dealership ... "You can have my Evo when you pry it from my cold dead fingers or build something significantly better/faster/stronger."

But, you are wise to not buy if you have any doubt (as others have noted).
