Check engine light
Check engine light
i'm taking my car in because my service light came on. the idiot at jiffy lube started putting in castrol instead of mobil one. i noticed it and yelled at the top of my lungs. he drained the castrol and then filled up with mobil one. that was two days before the check engine light came on. could this be the reason for the service light?
Go to autozone (or some place like that) and get them to pull the code. All they have to do is hook up to the factory port (under stearing wheel) and pull the code. Then you'll know if it's oil related.
My first guess would be no, this wouldn't cause a CEL. But you really never know what might have happened unless you have the code.
Good luck!

if you have autozone pull the code, i can tell you what it means... I just need the code...
I would have made him flush the motor, if all he did was drain the dino oil then i'm sure some was left in the motor.. either way it shouldn't have cause enough harm to throw a cell. No other changes have been made to the car?

Even if you didnt catch the mistake it wouldnt have hurt the car. Synthetic oils are compatable with each other. Also synthetic & non-synthetic oils are compatable. Even if the guy were to put in regular oil you would be okay. A lot of Evo owners will actually drain out the Mobil One when they first buy the car and put in non-synthetic oil. The idea is to use reg. oil during the break-in period because synthetic is too slippery for the piston rings to properly seat with the cylinder walls. (I dont agree with this on the Evo)
