when i asked my dealership about it the service manager {head hancho} said it was roughly $850 for the oem windshield but there is an aftermarket one made by the same company and its the same exact windshield for roughly $400.

Well I called my dealership and they quoted me $265, parts & labor. I didin't go into the detail of whether it's aftermarket glass or OE. Regardless, that's a good price, for any dealership.

BUT due to personal reasons, I've decided to bring my car to Just Glass; their price just a little lower than the Mitsu dealer quoted me.
And that's a shame; usually my way of thinking would tell me to go to the dealership if it's just a matter of a few dollars difference.

But I have so many negative experiences with my sales mgr and my dealership in general that I am so turned off by them and decided not to give this sale to them....

....blah, whatever, I'm just rambling now.....

Funny you mention it though, I JUST got a stone crack on my windshield today.. I hate the route I take to work, nothing but trucks and crap falling off them.. dented my hood with a stone and it hit my windshield..

I got a "star" on Monday...

I had a rock kicked up by a dump truck break the windshield in my car when it was only a month old.

The normal Lancer windshield fits the frame fine, but the rear-view mirror mount is EVO specific. The shop I went to (NOVUS) actually had the the base Lancer windshield installed, but could not install the stock EVO mirror. The shop had to order an OEM windshield specifically for the EVO from the dealer. Took about 10 days to get the parts.

The base Lancer windshield is about half the price (probably because it is not an OEM part) of the EVO unit.

actually they do make 2 different windshields for the Evo/Lancer... all Evo windshields are the same, but not every Lancer windshield is the same, due to the mirror bracket... so we have to figure out which one you have and order the correct one... we did a regular Lancer yesterday and thats another thing i noticed about the cars.. i don't know if it's a OZ vs ES difference though..

mine was $160 and they came to my apartment. They had the regular Lancer windshield as the replacement windshield. I was concerned about it being heavier than OEM but
1. I picked it up and felt no difference
2. If its heavier its thicker and will deflect those pesky rocks better, I'll reduce the whole 2 pounds somewhere else, I'll diet!
Safelite Auto glass..good experience with them

Safelite makes their own glass... it's aftermarket and is not approved by any car manufacturer... it was cheaper cause it is, not because you got a deal.... that is the simple and always blurred truth...
