New Guy Here.. Thinking of getting EVO

Just thought I'd join the forum today, I have been reading it for some time now. I am in the process of deciding whether to sell my current car (96 Talon) and get and EVO or not. I am really impressed with the performance the EVO has right out of the box, but am not sure I will be able to get the money out of my Talon that I need in order to make it worth my while.
Anyway just joining so I can make comments and get feedback about my current car situation from some of the other EVO / DSM people out there.

Thanks

Judging from the numbers in your sig you already know what these cars can do with the right mods. You are probably right about what you can get for your car, the DSM market seems pretty soft since the Evo came out. I remember when the GSX's were still holding thier value well...not anymore... good luck

There's no way you can ever get good money back from selling a heavily modded car. It'll be way more cost effective if you parted out all your mods and sold the car in close to stock form. I pretty much returned my GSX to stock after I got my EVO. I took a big loss there. I probably got back around 50% of what I paid for the mods, which I guess isn't too bad.

You won't regret getting an EVO. It was way more technologically advanced compared to a DSM.

Ya I understand not getting the money you put in back out, but there is no way to put the car back to stock, it has a wire-in stand alone ecu, fully built motor and custom turbo set-up just to give you the short list of unreversable mods. The car is in really good shape, has really low miles and has proven its self on the dyno and at the track so I am hoping that will aide the selling price if i choose to sell and purchace an EVO.

I hear ya. It's gonna be hard to sell a fully modded car like that. You're gonna have a bunch of kids trying to call you to go for joyrides. Parting out a heavily modded car is no fun. I've done it on my 1g and my 2g. You realize how much time and effort you put into the car once you start ripping things off.

That's why I'm being a lot more cautious when choosing mods for my EVO. I want to be sure the car is returnable to stock if/when I choose to sell it. I think I've learned my lesson. My DSMs are so hacked up from all the mods.
