Question intakes


I have a question...I want to get a new intake for my 03 OZ and I dont know what to get..I see pictures with a filter under the hood coming off a pipe and I also see pictures of another thing with a pipe running down to the bottem..what are those? OK so I dont know anything about engines.....help me out. thanks, late!

for example: the Injen CAI and then the short ram intake? one has more more pipe going somewhere, and the other has the filter right there.....the CAI is obviously better, why? thanks again.
I was just using Injen as an example....i dont necassarily want Injen..

CAI has the long pipe, gets cold air from behind the bumper away from the engine. AEM, INJEN


short ram is just a filter attached to the mass air flow sensor (MAS or MAF) RRM, RMR, WEAPON R, custom

obviously colder air is better

but then ddon't forget that with the automatics, most of the cold air setups are not compatible with it since the tranny gets in the way

cold air is always better yes.. but with the short ram air you get more response..
