Well here is my newbie intro although I've lurked hardcore for about a year. Back in 01' I had a deposit down on one of the 1st wrx's in the states, however when I test drove it I was totally disapointed, it seemed really slow in comparison with my then gti vr6 inspite of the #'s . I drove an s2000 for the hell of it and after winding out it's 6 gears to 9k, I had to have one. However even though the car was made like no other, it was too pretty for me and the 2 seat convertible thing gets real old for a daily commuter. Plus, I sucked at driving it, (spun mucho) even though it did make me a better driver ultimately. I could not wait when my lease was up in 03'... I had two cars on the list, an STI and an evo. I went to drive an STI and they were dicks! Plus there was pink isht all over that ugly little pig. I went to Mitsu and the they let me beat on one and then were dicks about the details. so I went to another dealer, got what I wanted and have enjoyed great service, intelligent and rational warranty repair (with mods) and the most kick a$$ commuter car I have ever experienced. Props to Mitsu (only the cool people there) and props to the people here with great info. I have researched, problems, vendors, products, purchased and installed mods myself, all with info gleaned from this site. In hind sight I am sooo glad I didn't end up in the sube as this thing is so fun, easy and rewarding to work on. I am on a mission for 300 whp at as low an rpm as possible through redline on 93oct. in any condition. I follow with particular intrest the mythical twin scrolled, ti wheeled BB cartridged, 10.5 housed holly grail of "stock turbos" threads, and that dude that ported, coated and wrapped every part of his exaust is my hero! -peace Wingless
Welcome ! I would suggest you check into Vishnu Stage 1 (3" downpipe, dump-back exhaust, cam gears, and the XEDE ) 300 whp becomes a reality. I ran 282whp yesterday on a new Mustang Dyno, and accounting for the Mustang tendency to be 10-15% on the low side (very conservative calculations) I'm quite happy.
