I like my shift knob but it feels a bit small for my hands. I see some online that are twice as heavy, I believe it is easier to shift? Anyone have a heavier one, maybe you can tell me what you like or dont like about it? Not a big deal but I would prefer one with gear numbers on top...
Which ones do you guys have and where did you purchase it from?

I've felt the GReddy one.. the heavy one.. I just don't like the chrome look but the shift knob is nice and heavy. I don't know if it will fit the mr2 but i'd like to get a heavy one as that one. I want to see pics too if some of you guys will care to share! Thanks

I had the exact same problem, the stock knob just always felt small in my hand. I went with the Momo Race Airleather no pattern on top but it is the perfect size for me and slightly heavier then stock. As a bonus it matches the steering wheel pretty well almost looks stock. I got in on Ebay for $60 shipped.Originally Posted by Derek888

I think this would look good, looks similar to stock with a bit silver to it. Do you think this will fit?

problem with the momo one above is that its not a twist on...i have it and hate it...its too light...do you believe i traded in my greddy counterweight for that knob
edit: the one above is also a little high...i have a short shifter and it makes it feel like stock height i can only imagine how much higher it would be with the stock shifter

I have the Greddy counterweight one and I love it. If your looking for a larger one then don't look into this one because it is smaller than stock. This shift knob with my B&M short shifter really makes shifting fun.
Does the Greddy one twist in and how many models are there that will fit the Evo? Where can I get one online?

That is the exact one I have. It is lower then the stock one on my shifter, I spent a little time getting it as low as I could before screwing in the set screws. I would think with a short shifter it would have been easier since you do not have the block piece on the stock shifter that limits how far down it goes. I hooked the shifter boot over the metal on the bottom and it looks stock.Originally Posted by Derek888

I too disliked the stock Mitsu knob, so I first put on the GReddy 440 gram knob. That felt nice and heavy, but it soon gave me problems in the heat of summer. When internal car temperatures can easily reach 130 degrees F, that all-metal knob becomes hot, hot, hot! Think of the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark where the German interrogator pulls the medallion out of the fire and burns his hand and you get the idea. I swear that I still have a shift pattern branded into my palm.
Anyway, I went with the Razo 340G Shorty knob from Lancershop.com and I love it. It still weighs twice that of the stock knob (340 grams versus 170) and the leather covering prevents problems with the heat. I also found that I much prefer a pistol-type grip to a simple ball-type shifter knob. Big thumbs up to the Razo!

i have the oem metal one ffd and it is a nice shorter throw. it is kindof a small knob but is slightly heavier and looks good. you dont need a heavy one in this car it shifts to good. the dsms needed one because they sucked (i owned on before so i am allowed to say that)
