'04 Evo 8. After driving an E36M3 for the past few years, finally gave it to my brother. Looked around at several cars for replacement, naturally coming from a BMW, i went to look at the E46M3, didn't feel a big wow factor for the extra $$ i have to spend, same goes for the 996s, finally today out of curousity, went down to my local mitsu dealer, after 1 test drive, i was sold...
you will lose a ton of comfort/driving aids going away from the bimmer, but hey who needs that crap anyway. i like you wanted an evo, or a sti, but leaned for family reasons toward a new volvo s60, sabb 9-2 aero (wrx based) or an audi A4. i compared all of them, and drove all of them. the evo is perfect. it is safe enough to haul around my newborn. and fast enough to do damage(at first i thought it might be too fast) stock it does just fine, i will probably ride it out that way for at least a few months. but man, the drive, just like you, sold me.
