evo/sti interior

hey guys, I'm new to this message board.
i'm sure you guys have plent of comparisons on this page between the two cars

i currently have a 97 240sx and am interested in getting one of the two cars

my primary question is about the interior since i read enough about both of evo's and sti's performaces.
i'm mostly curious about stuff like if they have any cup holders, and how many they have, arm rest/storage compartment, outside temperature thermometer, clock, sunroof...

im not too worried about radio since i'm gonna add my own anyways

also, correct me if im wrong, but the evo has more leg room and the back seats and the seats fold down to connect to the trunk right?

i'm a newbie with cars, i feel like i can handle my 240sx pretty well.
so how do those two cars compare to the 240sx in respect of handling and such, i know the speed obviously isn't up to par.

thanks very much in advance

The EVO's back seat does not fold down. There are structural reinforcements that go through the opening between the trunk and back seat that blocks a good portion of it. I'm not sure about the STi though.

4 cupholders in the Evo storage space is average in doors and glove box and under the center concel armrest. legroom is good I can fit 4 large people in my car without them being uncomfertable. The standard Evo does not come with outside temp niether does the STi as far as I know there is a fold down armrest in the back of the evo with 2 cup holders in it and as mentioned the back seats of the Evo do not fold down due to the cross bars

If you really want a more luxurious interior look into an Audi S4 they have very similar performance to the Evo and STi but a much classier interior.

the STi gauges are said to be slightly nicer looking than the Evo I dont' see much of a difference but some do...

The Recaro seats in the Evo are better than the STi seats thats a big advantage for me cause I really like to feel the seat hug me around hard corners

the STi is a more comfertable daily driver car than the Evo is however its handling and racing abilities are not quite as good it has softer suspension and a smoother ride but pulls about .04 g less on the skid pad to pay for that comfort

Any other questions let me know

thank you very much, that was very helpful. i'm pretty sure im gonna get the evo now. there's a used 03 in my area with 9k miles going for 24000, is that a good deal?
also, does evo have auto dimming mirror?

Are you talking about an auto dimming rear-view mirror like the ones they have on bimmers? If so, nope.

$24,000 for an '03 with 9k miles on it. Jeez, I dunno, that's so close to the MSRP for a brand new Evo that it's tough to call. I guess it comes down to preference. Some people like to buy cars new, some people don't. But if you were to get a new one, you'd only be paying like 6 g's more, but if you've got 30 large, then I guess it'd be a better idea to get the used car and spend the extra six k on mods.

24k and under 10k miles thats a very fair asking price not a steal mind you but not a bad price at all also depends on the area you live in because some places have higher resale for evo's than others

lol they sell used evo's for more than that in the pittsburgh area. damn close to msrp.

a buddy of mine has an sti & let me tell you while they are both nice cars, the evo's seats are a much better "driver's" seat. the interiors imo are about the same. my evo feels like it has a little bit more room.

i've had an evo for about a year and my friend just bought an sti yesterday. the inside of the sti looks much better but the seats are uncomfortable. the back kind of pushes you away from the seat and the bolster is too wide. there is very little leg room in the back of the sti compared to the evo. i like my evo better because it's more responsive but i have to admit that the interior looks cheap compared to an sti's.

also take into account that financing for a used car comes with higher APR than new cars. Shop around for financing.
as far as one of the 2...I can live with the Evo's interior but not with the STi's exterior, comes down to personal pref but if for you refined>raw I would go with the STi or the S4, since you are asking about all these comforts.
self-dimming mirror...$60
outside temp gauge...$9
Kicking az and look good while at it....priceless

Neither car's seats fold down for complete access to the trunk. the EVO has a fold down armrest with cup holder included in the back seat. The STi has nothing for the backseat in terms of armrests or cupholders. In the front, I THINK the EVO has two cupholders, both good. The STi has one good molded one, and one flimsy one that's basically good for nothing above the radio compartment. The STi is generally the less spacious car. The EVO's seats hug more. Quality as a whole with fabric and so forth goes to the STi's sweet blue interior. And it's gauges are a pretty thing to look at. EVO's steering wheel has a better feel.

Neither is Benz and Beemer quality. Their both pretty raw. But not too punishing or anything like that. The STi's squishy seats could be more comfy, depending on who you are. But their bolstering is also squashy and wide, so it doesn't hold you in well. But it is more forgiving over bumps.

hope that helped.

the sti does have cupholders in the back. they come out behind the armrest in the front.

is this whole forum leaning toward cupholders. what the h are you talking about. if you are worried that much about cup holders this isnt the car for you. your girlfriend will ***** about the ride, shifting hard, and the boost. maybe you should look into a volvo, or an a4. all this stuff, and way more would bother a guy like my dad, sure he likes the car but wouldnt ever drive it on a daily basis. things like cupholders shouldnt be considered. if you want cupholders that bad, then buy a suv. not to diss, but serious man.......... cupholders wtf. someone back me up.
