Get the Sti. So close only the real track stars can take advantage of the Evo MR in stock forms. Yes the Sti is for you as modding is not a high priority.

let me put it this way for you, it is all up to the driver. the cars are so close that it is truly a driver's race. if the guy can drive, the STI can be just as sweet on the road coarse. my friend is an instructor at Lime Rock and all i can say is good luck to you. he will eat most people for breakfast with his stock STI not because the car is fast but because he can drive. we all know that the difference between the 2 cars is almost non existent unless you are a true great driver that can push them both to the limit.

I sold my 03 EVO in May and bought an 05 STI in June. The STI is nice and a better everyday car but I really miss my EVO. It was a really fun car. I still think Mitsu's future viability is only 50-50 and you could wind up with an orphan vehicle. Nevertheless I am thinking about maybe switching back to an 05 EVO RS in the winter, especially if the prices are right.

The STI has a nice power delivery. Not necessarily more power but more low-down power in everyday driving. Really smooth, too.

I tell you what, I have owned a highly modified Subaru WRX, with the STi tranny, and I have owned this Evo.

The Subaru's kick the $hit out of Mitsu in build quality. I just felt that the WRX was built like a tank. The only mechanical failure that I had was that POS glass 5MT tranny. What a POS. With the JDM 6mt addition, that thing was pretty sweet. Hell, I had 330WHP, and my stock clutch lasted 45K miles! It was still on it when I traded it in, and strong as ever.

As far as design, and fun factor, well, I am driving an Evo, so that should answer that question. I just love the motor, and the handling is so awesome! It is indeed a great car. They are both great cars.

I wish that I was wealthy enough to buy my wife an 05 STi, and myself a 05MR! That would be sweet. For now I will settle with the 04, and I will probably get a Quaiffe. That should put me on par with the 05 guys.

Good luck with your choice. It is such a hard decision! They are both amazing machines.

i dont think really matter what we say, it'all about yourself,
many of us went through evo vs. sti, but not all of us had chance to own them both,
to me, i would go for it, better sitting on the evo and thinking ppl talking bad thing about sti. feel it yourself. there are still plenty of nice imports coming to us in the future, i want to try them all.
good luck!

I'd say go STi , since you already sold your first Evo. Very nice car, throwing on some whiteline steering bushings should help a good bit (according to SCC).
