Not at all necessary unless you are tearing up the tracks and mainly autocross at that.

I race about once a month on a 2 mile road course.

they are a waste of money, and they are illegal for as, esp and even sm

If you are doing unsanctioned road courses for fun, you might see a difference over time with rattles and body creaks. The part for the trunk is a waste though for sure.
