Free maintenance

Did anyone recently purchase a mitsu with the free maintenance? My new Evo came with a free maintenance agreement and I'm just wondering if there was a catch to it. I mean, is it really free or are they gonna be charging me for stuff I don't need. Also, can I do it at any Mitsu dealer or do I have to take my car into the original dealer?

i got mine in august as well. i took it in there yesterday to get the oil changed for the first time, showing just under 3k. i was told when i bought the car that they would do it every 3k, but yesterday after i fought traffic all afternoon to get there they told me they wouldnt do it for free until it showed 5k. no big deal though i guess. i thought about paying to get it done, but it is there deal, they say 5 i say okay. thing is i was a little surprised that they told me 3k anyway with a brand new car and synthetic, that seems a little bit overkill. my understanding is that it can be changed at any authorized mitsu dealer- in america. if it is elsewhere i read you have to pay for it but then you get reimbursed by them later. i think. mitsu is offering it on every new 04 model. we will see if i get stung on it though. dont trust those scabs much at all.

your sales guy was probably confused. i was told by my sales guy that they will honor the recommendations of the service manual. so, if it is a regular lancer which requires only organic oil at 3000 mile intervals, then they will do them for free at 3000 miles. the evo's manual calls for 5000 mile intervals using fully synthetic oil.
