ofcourse you can mod an auto.. alot of things are virtually the same... some parts you will find belong to a manual. but for the most part its all the same

no that its any easier, but start /w the intake, exhaust & suspension. then braking, diagnostics and eye candy until more stuff is on the market that should keep you busy for a few months. learn to launch using the brake, but take it slow

Yeah, the main thing is patience...
There's not a boat-load of manufacturers making things for the car yet... This is the first year that they've had the 2.4L Mivec engine for the Lancer...

Hi all,

I'm a real newbee to all these car things. I just bought a 05 RA manual, I got it last week and having lots of fun with it, I had a Jeep Cherokee before this car... you can see the difference

I wanted to do some mod to my car, some said I should wait for the warranty to expired to avoid any trouble, some said I could install a Intake. Can anyone give me some info? Like can I install it with some instruction even tho I have no experience in cars? Does it take special tools to do that? Price ?

Well any info would be great. I'm in Montreal Canada, is there any way to order a intake to be ship aver here?

Thanks all.

You might want to talk to the dealer, some dealers say that a Cold air intake with a bypass valve will not mess with warranty...
Dealer isn't supposed to be able to void warranty unless the modification has a direct effect to the warranty work needed.

An often used example is if your engine gets hydro-locked and the dealer finds that you ran through a puddle as high as your wheel well & the intake fed water into the engine they'll void the warranty...

This is not a common thing AT ALL, but it really depends on dealer, etc...

But as far as simple mods it'd be the intake and exhaust...

Using the brake works loads better than just flooring it. The main reason autos are slower than manuals is BECAUSE the torque converter has a low stall (for fuel economy, most people don't want to drive like they stole the car ALL the time). An artificial way of raising the rpms before going is to use the brake. Probably not a good idea to do this all the time, but the occasional one is ok.
BTW complete dragsters are almost always autos. They always have a transmission brake (does the same thing as I explained above, but it isn't hard on the drive train). For strict dragging, an auto with trans brake and high stall converter will ALWAYS be faster than a manual. I want to see who on this board with a manual can shift in .4 seconds. From the time the engine is disengaged to the time it is pulling in the next gear, .4 seconds...
Just thought I would clear that up, no one would seriously drag the ralliart anyway, that's what muscle cars are for.

Automatic Ralliarts run 16 flat in the 1/4 mile. I guess thats not bad considering it is an automatic.
