SPEED LIMITER ON NEW EVO'S & MR'S

I just got my 2005 MR and have been hearing from people on this forum that all new evo's and MR's have a speed limiter. I don't believe this to be true and would like to find out the truth. I would do it in my new MR but I only have 70 miles on the clock. Can anyone answer this question I'm sure that someone has broken in a new evo or MR.

P.S. I know a reflash would take care of this but once you reflash it the dealer will know and might void warrenty on the car.

Thanks for the help in advance

Derek

i remember reading the they had a 5k rev limiter when clutch is engaged....not a spped limiter tho...

I dont know about a speed limiter but my 03 had rev limiter i noticed in 5th gear that was different from the usual 7500 i recorded a 6908 in 5th gear on my SAFC2 at 160 on the speedo

its for a good reason though.... sustained engine speeds of 7000+ rpm probably isnt good for high speed cruising on the <cough cough> autobahns .......... ya thats it.

hmm, people are telling me that the clutch needs to be stepped in for it to kick in... i could swear it was.but i've been wrong before. i'll check again tomorrow.

*update*

i found that you can initially rev the engine beyond the 5k limit, but if you stand on the throttle the limiter kicks in. don't know if i would want to use it as launch control though, as it doesn't sound smooth. i was in a rush and couldn't really tell if it was building boost.

i've blipped the throttle past 5k before during a launch.

There is no speed limiter on the '05's, I tested it tonight ;) and even at 140 no such thing. There are weirdo's on this site that like to make up BS, who knows why.

Can anybody verify if the California model EVO'S have a speed limiter. And is there a California model? no more 49/50 state legal.
